Amazon Prime

fulfilled by amazon, Prime: 2020 Requirements to Know

Amazon Prime, is all about free and fast shipping.

However, less than 16% of all Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) orders were meeting Prime’s two-day delivery guarantee, mainly because many sellers do not operate on weekends. However, that is about to change.

Starting Feb. 1, 2021, SFP sellers in the U.S. will be required to support Saturday pick-up and delivery and make Prime-eligible products available for delivery nationwide. Amazon has launched these updates to ensure that Prime-labeled products are actually meeting the one- and two-day delivery promises.

Amazon says the announcement is to ensure sellers have plenty of time to determine how these changes will affect their business, so they can make any needed adjustments to their fulfillment strategy with ample time before they take effect.

The SFP program, launched in 2016, is only open to qualified sellers who must join a waitlist for enrollment consideration. Once enrolled, it allows third-party merchants to get a Prime badge on their listings by making their products eligible for two-day shipping without having to pay Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fees.

Presently, SFP members can offer Prime-eligible products only to customers in specific regions where they are confident they can meet the two-day or less delivery expectation. Soon, they will need to fulfill this delivery promise to customers all across the U.S.

To support these changes, Amazon is launching a new dashboard that will allow sellers to track their one- and two-day delivery performance, and they will be required to meet Amazon’s target delivery speed metrics.

Amazon also announced that starting Sept. 30, 2020, it will no longer offer the Small and Light program in Seller Fulfilled Prime. Therefore, if you have products currently assigned to this shipping template, you will need to re-assign those products to SFP or FBA.
